Vacation @ US for my parents

I found some time after successfully completing the biggest ambitions of my life till date. Yes, my parents were here with me in the Unites States of America for a full 5 week period (so little, but thats all they could manage happily). Looking back in time just 4 years back I never dreamt or even thought positively to make this happen. Took them to 3 major places which is the face of US for rest of the world. NY, DC and Niagara were our primary target for visiting. Both of them were shocked to some extentent on the culture difference, but I would say they didnt get to see the "real America" which is more known on day to day life here. 2 weeks after his arrival, my Dad felt bored and started talking about the date of departure. Weekends were their only happy days as I was around. Constant complaints like "oru paal vaanganumnaa kooda unnai nambi okkanthurukkom da. Enna da indpendent life nu peethikara? etho periya naadu nu solraan. anaa car illathavan vaazhave koodathunu ...

Dhasavatharam

I didnt mean to be negative, but I must really say I wasnt impressed with this movie at all... 3 simple reasons. 1. Hype - Definitely this film didnt live to its hype 2. Illitrate? you are out. I just couldnt follow some of the technical details of the story, despite being a graduate. Consider class-B and class-C audience. 3. Graphics, screenplay - The whole wait for graphics to complete and release the movie didnt pay off. Positives - 4 charactes stand out. Nambi, paati, Naidu and Vincent. No one else in this world can show this much variation in a single movie. Hats off to Kamal for some excellent performance. comedy, picturisation of 1st song Negatives - Song picturisation (except 1st song), storyline, screenplay. Dialogues are even bigger let down. This movie cant be classified as "entertainment, masala" like a Kadala Kadala or Vasool Raja nor can be classified as "message movie" like an Anbe Sivam. Note: Kamal fans, I am not a Kamal basher.

Music review time again

3 new noteable movie audio has released recently. Out of the 3, to me Dasavatharam stands out just for lyrics. Its the same old music by Himesh. He aint learning or trying new stuff. But the lyrics for the music in this album makes it outstanding. 2nd vote is a tie. Its tough to choose between Kuruvi and Dhaam Dhoom. Though I am a Vijay fan, I still cant digest the fact that he has been deemed as a "fight, song, dance" hero. The songs in Kuruvi suit his deemed image and I dont have any doubt about the movie's result. It will be a hit. All fast and peppy numbers. I must say I hated Yogi B's song the first time I heard and realized later that I had to follow the pattern of rap he is into. Dhaam Dhoom is yet another Harris Jeyaraj regular album. A jazzy number, a racy number and a melody with Bombay Jayashree. Although I am tired of this, Harris still manages some good music that makes you hum as you keep listening it. My rating goes this way... Dasavatharam - 4/5 Kuruvi...

There is a new game in town

Just as soon as winter gave way to spring (or Autumn as it should be rightly called), all outdoor game activities have come back to life within our group in Pitt. With my group shrinking week after week, we had to settle down for a game that can be played with a smaller set of people. The result of it ended in us choosing volley ball. We bought a beach volley ball back in Feb when we tripped Florida just for the sake of playing "beach volleyball" and it is paying off dividend. Its been 2 weeks now and I have been playing this game consistently. We are planning for a "series" with other teams, just like we had cricket last year. Hope this turns out for us giving some good time

Awaiting July...

The time has been finalized at last. July 1st is when my parents will meet me in a foreign soil. All my thoughts for the next 3 months will be towards that and nothing else... I need to plan well and most importantly execute it this time unlike what I do professionally ;-)

Happy moment

The visa interview to USA for my parents happened today and they got it through... one more step closer towards one of my biggest goals in my life... its really true that "there are some things money can't buy" :-)

A Dictator?

When I see people turn at me and say "you won in your usual way", it makes me feel a little nervous and tensed. Especially when there is an argument and I want to make the oppenent party feel my realistic issues in solving the argument towards my side, most of them feel I am dictating terms. Never in my life was I a dictator to anyone nor did I think to become one. I only dictated terms to myself. Somehow it should have fallen out slowly and has started showing upon others when they try to win any battle of arguments with me... Time to re-establish standards of argument for me. I wanted to be honest to myself and asked people around me if they felt me as a dictator and to my surprize I found most of them say yes. But everyone had an opinion that I am approachable for any issue that needs solution. Never mind, I need to get out of the "dictator" image I have.
