Congrats Kerala

Ya, Kerala are the "Santhosh Trophy" winners for the year 2004. Tell me really how many of us follow football religiously as we do cricket in India? (even I dont do that). After the poor performance of our cricket team with the Aussies, I lost a bit of interest in that game. I was just wondering around 2 P.M. today as to what shall I watch in T.V. Until I had the ESPN and STAR sports connection, I followed EPL and Spanish Liga to some extent. Now for more than a year, we people in chennai are void of those channels. :-) Only choice we had was to see DD sports. I am very happy to see such a hard fought game for the trophy between Kerala and Punjab. Kerala did it with 3-2 in the extra time. First half started with a bang with Kerala scoring the first one at 7th minute. Then that remained the score till half time. After the break was the real cruicual game started. Punjab bounced back with 2 goals in quick succession at 3rd and 6th minutes of the second half. They then tr...

Its 1000!!!!

Hi all, it has been 1000 accesses to my blog by today. (Not actually, u can count out my own vists which would approximate to around 100). I really dont know if my counter works well or not. But a 1000 for my blog is indeed a greater achievement. Thanks for one and all who made this possible.

Watched 3 movies last weekend

Pooja holidays... and its time to celebrate for me. Went to 3 movies on 3 days. (Dad says "Dai nee collge padikkumbothellam ozungaa irunthiye da... ippo enna aachu?). I really donno. I saw 7GRC, Ladder 49 and M Kumaran. 7GRC was given a big hype by my friends and I thought it would be nice. But it was a bit of disappointment for me. Didnt expect that one to end in that way. The climax was so boring and intolerable. I couldnt sit in the cinema hall for too long. Those so called "love" scenes in the hotel was just too comic and irrelevent for me. Ladder 49 is one of the verbal conversational films I admire after a long time. Its really a good movie explaining the life of a Fireman. I initally thought John Travolta might be the hero. But it wasnt to be. I would suggest people who like verbal conversation films to watch that movie for sure. Finally M.Kumaran.... My favourite ASIN starrer. Really an emotional movie which loses track after interval. Until Nadiya is ...

Good ones... thought of sharing them

SARDAR in ARABIA A Sardar, a German and a Pakistani got arrested consuming alcohol which is a severe offense in Saudi Arabia, so for the terrible crime they are all sentenced 20 lashes each of the whip. As they were preparing for their punishment, the Sheik announced: "It's my first wife's birthday today, and she has asked me to allow each of you one wish before your whipping." The German was first in line, he thought for a while and then said: "Please tie a pillow to my back." This was done, but the pillow only lasted 10 lashes & the German had to be carried away bleeding and crying with pain. The Pakistani was next up. After watching the German in horror he said smugly: "Please fix two pillows to my back." But even two pillows could only take 15 lashes & the Pakistani was also led away whimpering loudly. The Sardar was the last one up, but before he could say anything, the Sheikh turned to him and said: "You are from a ...

Cricket @ Chennai

I was there witnessing India trying to overhaul the Aussies on Saturday, the third day of the second test match between the two teams. It was a fantastic atmosphere. I knew getting tickets would be tough. Hence me and my group of friends were there at 7 AM sharp at the ticket counter. Believe it or not there were about 20 people before us in the queue already for the 9:30 AM starting game!!!!. The feeling was just too good and I am unable to find words to explain them. I bought a bus conductor whistle on friday evening itself. On going to the stadium we also got some PIPIs (hope u ppl got it). I got a TRICOLOUR and stated cheering India in a full swing from the first ball. The first and last session of the day belonged to India. But the middle session was fully dominated by the Aussies. We had quite a few aussies in our stand supporting their team. We had got several rythms and beats going along throughout the match without any decrease in decibel level... Overall it is my third e...

Thaaya kattam

I was after a long gap in my life played a traditional game of "Thaaya kattam" (game of dice) with my cousins and chithappa. Indeed it is a game of chance. Just spent some time in analyzing the game. How great our elders are in creating such a game with the laws of probability. We had played some two rounds of this game. It was such a serious tensing games will all Nandus and Sindus (small kids) around. It was as if we were playing a world cup final (too much exaggeration????). It was really nice. As expected, I was in the losing side both the times.

Palani Visit

Today I had a visit to Palani Hills and got darshan of our family God ("kula theivam" pa) "Murugar". Since my Chithappa ('chacha' in hindi) is a DE in telephones, we could get a VIP pass and have a very closer darshan of one of my favourite Gods. It is "Krithigai" today which is one of the special days for Lord Muruga. We performed Abishekams with panchamirtham, milk, tender cocunut and curd. This is a special ceremony we do regularly atleast once in 2 years. Great that we combined this time around with my vacation. Had a great time with my vacation ending today. So will be back to normal ways from tomorrow( does that mean by blog rate will reduce????. Hoping no. :-)).
