Curtains to Olympics

Well it was thrilling two weeks of sporting in Athens this time. My two eyes were not enough to witness all the games and actions that happened in the Olympics. Although I missed a major portion of the action in TV, I used to see a one hour of variety sports from 10 PM to 11 PM in TV. Thats the only time I could see them. But I enjoyed a lot. The spirit was never missing in the sportsperson's heart. One worry I have is that of the performance of the Indian crew at Athens. Well I am not gonna write against them or for them. I just wanna mention that I expected a lot from them. Hats off to Major Rathore for the face saving Silver medal at Athens. Long live Olympic spirit.

Olympic Fever

Just saw some gr8 actions in Olympics today. The sportspersons, the fans, the flags of different countries... oh it needs a whole day or even a week to explain it. Lemme put in all that I saw in these small paras. I could feel the pressure on the sportspersons to perform well. Every time a person wins, they noy only get medals, awards, recognition etc... but most importantly they get thier National Anthem sung and their National flag to be risen.... One could feel their body language which carries the entire nation's responsibility and expectation on their shoulders. The fans... I saw a cycling race today and it was won by an Italian. After the game was over, the winner was taken for an interview along side of the road. I saw a hardcore cycling fan just listening to the winner's talking in a manner that he started chewing his bubble gum in full tension and full speed. He was more excited and thrilled than the actual winner. I could feel that the fan was more happy that his...

Infosys and the Middle Class

This was one of the excellent forwords I have read ever and just couldnt resist sharing it. Subject: Vir Sanghvi in the Hindustan Times Infosys and the Middle Class Vir Sanghvi July 25 I don't often use this column to say good things about my friends but I'm going to make an exception this week. Part of the reason is that the friend in question is now, deservedly, nationally famous. But mainly, it's because of the things he represents and the values he embodies. I first met Nandan Nilekani in 1980 because he was going out with a friend (and colleague) of mine - they have since married. At the time, he was a young IIT-trained engineer working, if I remember correctly, for Patni Computer Systems. It was clear then that Nandan was very bright and that he would go far, but none of us, including Nandan himself, realised quite how far he would get. As the years went on, I watched his rise with admiration. The gutsy decision to strike out with a few colleagues and s...

Cricket and My FATE!!!

I am a regular follower of cricket. This happens to be one of the reasons for not blogging for the past two weeks. Half a month break from blogging is too bad. I know I would lose some of the keen followers of my blog. But it was that cricket that made me to sit besides the TV and not do any of my regular Sunday activities. I Should have learnt a lesson atleast from the defeat of India against Pak. But still u know, I am a true lover of cricket and I watched the full of finals without missing a single ball to see India going down to SL. Too bad to give a reason for not blogging. But one interesting thing to note is that we people at Ambattur have started playing cricket in the Sunday mornings. Its keeps us relaxed and focussed thru the next week that follows. Interesting changes have happened in the world of politics in India. The Left parties have started giving pressure to the Congress led government. Dr. Manmohan has no other altenative but to keep his fingers crossed and p...
