T20 - A new format that thrills and excites everyone

I am back again with the same topic. Cricket. Somehow it really fascinates me to write about cricket.

From a never ending game that was held for 11 days to a 3 hours shortened version of it cricket has seen plenty of changes. I am not a historian nor do I know anything on the past world of cricket. I was familiarized to cricket at a time where "Benson and Hedges" World cup was held in Australia. My family members used to wake up at about 4:30 or 5:00 AM and I used to hear a lot of buzz and wonder what are these people doing. Its not yet dawn and they are already fully enthusiastic.

Slowly I learnt cricket and used to support India (of course). I think it was the season where most of my childhood friends also got introduced to cricket and we started to play our own "match" with the plastic bats and balls. Every match day when my family members watch it, we played, used to argue and clarify a lot with my dad, who gets tensed in the middle of a match when we disturb, but with no option comes out to help us and teach the game.

For the whole of time after that until even 2 years before, I passionaltely follow test match cricket more than one-dayer. Somehow I feel real cricket lies in a test match and not in a one-day game. Not that I dont watch a ODI but still I would prefer seeing a test match to a ODI given a choice. But after this T20 world cup, I changed my perspective a little bit.

I personally feel that a T20 match is a full outright 3 hour entertainment. No holds barred. This has one similarity with a test match. You cannot predict the outcome of a test match with the first 3 days of game. You will need at least (for most of the games) the second session on day 4 complete to predict a result. (although there might be plenty of exceptions). Similarly you cant predict the outcome of a T20 game. Today's India Vs SAF is a classic (I though of not using 'classic' as T20 has just born, but still leaving it aside) example.

The theory that T20 can reach the countries where cricket is not popular is still revolving, but I dont believe in that theory. May be ICC tried this format for the first time now by having this tournament, but I strongly feel that these tournaments need to be held in non cricketing nations if the game has to be popularized. Agreed that there will be no revenue from spectators but unless cricket is held in non-popular countries, I dont see this T20 dragging people from different part of the world. Tell me truly how many cricket unpopular countries know that there is a smaller version of this game and there is an international tournament happening. I am in a country where cricket knowledge is zero. No one has a clue on this tournament at least for the persons whom I have interacted.

Keeping this issue aside, I really appreciate the mind and brain behind this T20 tournament. Outright 3 hours entertainement with various talents displayed, some happiness, some disappointments and overall happiness to everyone. Thats all we need. Let me congratulate team India for its fascinating win over SAF and wish them all the best for the showdown with the Australians....

Go India Go!!!

Qualification

As promised in my last blog, i discuss on the qualification needed for software industry in the present world. I disclose at this point of time that it is purely my vision on the industry and nothing to do with pointing against other's opinions. Most of the companies while recruiting freshers only prefer ENGINEERING graduates to any other arts or science grads. I just had to do some sort of analysis before i blogged about it and indeed did some ground work for the same. I contacted some of my college and school friends who are now working in various MNCs as software engineers/programmers/analysts etc... Sunny, My friend, as i said in my previous blog is a Math grad. When a Software company calls for freshers, it is a clear point that they mention "Candidates with excellent academic records and aptitude and attidue are needed". But they still stick to the point that they need only ENGG grads for those posts. If at all they need other grads, they specify the...

Yesterday night show I went to Thiruppachi. Hmmm atleast this time around i didnt feel bored. Definitely this film is better than MADHURA. Hats off to the director for trying something new... oops not the story, but i meant the screenplay. A typical film for Vijay fans. Although i am not a Vijay fan, I admire him. Lots of senti in the film. Looks like ladies will like it for sure. Nothing can come near my God's next movie.... "Chandramukhi".

A Weekend to remember

It was indeed a long weekend for me and a weekend to remember for the rest of my life. I went on a vacation (or rather an extended picnic) to Vizag. My uncle called up my family to join in his house warming and thats all the reason I needed to enjoy a fabulous weekend in and around Vizag. Here are my visits on a daily basis from saturday to Tuesday. Saturday: We went to a place called Simmachalam where Lord Narashimha is famous for, followed by another Sai Seer Mutt. Sunday: It was the house warming day. In the evening we went to Kailasha giri, where lord Shiva and Parvathi's statues are made of white stone and kept in an open place. It is a sort of hangout for the Vizagans and since it is on a hill top, we could have a view of whole Vizag city in the evening with lights. Really worth spending time there and get yourself relaxed. Monday: This was a full day trip planned to go for only 2 places. One is Arukku which is a Hill station (probably like Yercaud, not anywhere ...
