As promised in my last blog, i discuss on the qualification needed for software industry in the present world. I disclose at this point of time that it is purely my vision on the industry and nothing to do with pointing against other's opinions.
Most of the companies while recruiting freshers only prefer ENGINEERING graduates to any other arts or science grads. I just had to do some sort of analysis before i blogged about it and indeed did some ground work for the same. I contacted some of my college and school friends who are now working in various MNCs as software engineers/programmers/analysts etc...
Sunny, My friend, as i said in my previous blog is a Math grad. When a Software company calls for freshers, it is a clear point that they mention "Candidates with excellent academic records and aptitude and attidue are needed". But they still stick to the point that they need only ENGG grads for those posts. If at all they need other grads, they specify them to be MSC or MCA.
I wonder what stops them from taking a BSC grad who is as equally talented to any ENGG grad. Once again, a reminder that i am not only talking for my friend Sunny alone (because there are many) and these opinions are fully mine and has to do nothing with policies companies possess. When a company can take a CHEMICAL, MECHANICAL or PRODUCTION or even TEXTILE engineer why not a BSC Math, Science or BSC COMPSC grad? I am not underestimating the work done by the other discipline engineers in software industry but the reality is too tough to digest.
When a company conducts an interview to any non Computer ENGG, they look out for some qualities needed in them for the software industry. So, this might even apply to the other non engg stream people also is my argument. I know its a bit controversial subject to handle, but just couldnt restrict from blogging about it. I know the current scenario is a bit tough to change. But, i feel if some body reading by blog might become an ENTREPREUNER ( is the spelling correct?) one day and might consider my point for their own company they start. :-)
I do agree that some companies do take other non engg grads for their company operations. But are they given a quality work as engineers are given? and most importantly, if they are given such equal amount of work, what is their pay scale? These are some hard realities prevailing in the Software industry, restricted to my vision. I know this would evoke a huge argument among the people reading it. Please let me know your comments.
