CAS and its Implementation

I am sure most of us are aware of CAS (Conditional Access System), where people are urged to buy a STB(Set to Box) to view the selected pay channels they want to view. The hardest reality of this system is that it was implemented in Chennai last September and it is still under trial.

I dont know wheather it is a hit or a flop. But either way, the trial period should be over by now. So the Government should have enough statistics to prove either the success or the failiure of this new system. Insted, the system is being extended and extended and.... I am one of those eager chennaiite waiting for the removal of this system or on the other side, implementation of the same all over India.

The real thrill in this trial comes when there was a situation of implementing this in the northern metros. Since most of the Hindi channels are pay channels, this was not possible to be implemented due to public support. Hmmm so does that mean the Government treats people from different regions differently? Where is the voice that says "There should be no regionism within this country" went in this case?

I dont wanna talk politics here. I just want to see EURO 2004 and the Asia Cup to be held next month. I am a sports lover. I want to see atleast all the sports channel. I would be happy if we recieve the sports channel alone with the normal cable connection we have. It is too costly for a middle class or lower class people to get a STB. Moreover, if bought also, we are not sure if this system will exist for too long. Waiting eagerly for a solution of the same...

Qualification

As promised in my last blog, i discuss on the qualification needed for software industry in the present world. I disclose at this point of time that it is purely my vision on the industry and nothing to do with pointing against other's opinions. Most of the companies while recruiting freshers only prefer ENGINEERING graduates to any other arts or science grads. I just had to do some sort of analysis before i blogged about it and indeed did some ground work for the same. I contacted some of my college and school friends who are now working in various MNCs as software engineers/programmers/analysts etc... Sunny, My friend, as i said in my previous blog is a Math grad. When a Software company calls for freshers, it is a clear point that they mention "Candidates with excellent academic records and aptitude and attidue are needed". But they still stick to the point that they need only ENGG grads for those posts. If at all they need other grads, they specify the...

Thiruppachi!!!!

Yesterday night show I went to Thiruppachi. Hmmm atleast this time around i didnt feel bored. Definitely this film is better than MADHURA. Hats off to the director for trying something new... oops not the story, but i meant the screenplay. A typical film for Vijay fans. Although i am not a Vijay fan, I admire him. Lots of senti in the film. Looks like ladies will like it for sure. Nothing can come near my God's next movie.... "Chandramukhi".

A Weekend to remember

It was indeed a long weekend for me and a weekend to remember for the rest of my life. I went on a vacation (or rather an extended picnic) to Vizag. My uncle called up my family to join in his house warming and thats all the reason I needed to enjoy a fabulous weekend in and around Vizag. Here are my visits on a daily basis from saturday to Tuesday. Saturday: We went to a place called Simmachalam where Lord Narashimha is famous for, followed by another Sai Seer Mutt. Sunday: It was the house warming day. In the evening we went to Kailasha giri, where lord Shiva and Parvathi's statues are made of white stone and kept in an open place. It is a sort of hangout for the Vizagans and since it is on a hill top, we could have a view of whole Vizag city in the evening with lights. Really worth spending time there and get yourself relaxed. Monday: This was a full day trip planned to go for only 2 places. One is Arukku which is a Hill station (probably like Yercaud, not anywhere ...
