If you are planning for going to Kuttralam, there are ample number of places to visit and take bath. Some of the key places are Old falls, Main falls, Five falls, Palaruvi (in Kuttralam) and Palaruvi (In Kerala). If you go there in peak season, there are several other sub-falls where you get good falling water to bath. Moreover one important point to note is that if you take a public vehicle that doest have right to go into Kerala, you can register in the near by RTO office and get the paper ready for one time visit which has a fee of Rs. 300. Also the entry into the Palaruvi region is not free. It costs Rs. 10 per head and Rs. 100 for the Van. Always ensure that you have sufficient funds to make yourself enjoyable.
At last the Palaruvi in Kerala was reached and we didnt expect too much of water there. But to our surprise the water was falling with a great force and the crowd was also very less relatively. I also heard that this is the mother of all falls that come to Kuttralam but I am not very sure or convinced of this fact. The bathing continued happily for about an hour when one of our friends called off hunger break. So we wounded up at last and made our trip searching for the next place to visit.
When we came out, we found a tea shop near by and had snacks. Side by side enquiry on next place to visit was made and the tea shop master (some how tea shop masters become friend easily to me) suggested a place called Tenmala. The van was routed directly to Tenmala. There is a KTDC (Kerala Tourism Development Corporation) office in Tenmala which explains what are the places in and around Tenmala. This place as such is made around a Dam. The various options available for visitors are Adventure Zone, Leisure Zone, Culture Zone, Boating etc... Due to lack of time, we had chosen to go only to Leisure Zone. It will need a whole day to go to all the places around Tenmala itself and one more fact was this place was not in our original Trip plan. But entry to all these zones are not free of cost. They charge quite heavily in my opinion.
Once we planned to get tickets to the Leisure Zone, we felt really hungry and van was directed towards a hotel where we could get white rice meals. If you arent aware, its tought to get white rice in Kerala. They serve a special type of rice which is brownish in colour. At last we found one and half of us only had lunch. The dishes were pathetic and I would better not blog anything more on it. The rest half went to a near by bakery and had something to munch. The van was directed to the leisure zone of Tenmala...
